Dear Doctor,

There are two types of consulting, both of which are effective. One method is what I call the cookie cutter method. This is the type of consulting that has a very dynamic chiropractor who says “Here is the way I built this great practice. Now you do what I did and the same thing will happen to you!” They are very inspiring and dynamic personalities. They tell the stories of how they get 4 new patients on the elevator on the way to their office or room. Are these stories true? Absolutely! Are their practices great ones? No question. Is this an effective method of management and consulting? Sure it is. But this is not the method of consulting we have chosen. We have chosen the second type of consulting which is the personalized method. The reason we have chosen the personalized method is because it is our experience that every doctor has a different idea of what THEY consider a dream practice. There are some doctors who want a high volume practice with 165 patient visits a day with one doctor and a few staff. Other doctors say, “No way, do I want high volume. I would like 60 patient visits a day, 3 days a week.” Some doctors want satellite clinics. Others want several associates. You might not want any of those things. The point is: We don’t want to make OUR dream of a practice come true for you –we want to make YOUR dream practice come true. This is the personalized method of coaching. How do we make this happen?

The first thing we do is have you fill out a Confidential Client Evaluation. This is a 30 page complete “exam” of your practice. It is a PAIN to fill out – but it is worth it! It gives us the complete picture of your practice and honestly, just filling it out will improve your practice by revealing many things you know you should be doing.  This is the "You Are Here" arrow on the map.   It tells us everything going on in the practice so we know what we are working with.

The next step is your Five Year Plan.  We need to know where you want to go, so we have you complete a Five Year Plan.  Your coach knows how to work you through this, so that you aren't sitting there staring at a piece of paper wondering what to do or how to do it.  This is the most exciting thing you will ever do in your professional career. When you finish you will know the future and be excited about it.  Your coach will send you an action plan that will include the strategies you will need to take to accomplish your plan.  In other words, this is not "pie in the sky" dreaming.  You will not only know exactly where you are going for the next five years, but also you will know exactly HOW you are going to get there.  Get ready to be amazed and excited about practice and life!

 Third, we set you up with consistent consulting calls with your coach. The purpose of these calls is to hold you accountable to your plan and make sure you know HOW to carry out your plan. This accountability is very important. I always say, “The greatest thing about being a chiropractor is you are your own boss. The worst thing about being a chiropractor is you are your own boss.” You lose that accountability that everybody needs. That is what we provide – accountability - so that you not only have GOOD ideas, but you also DO them at the right time!
